“Umeboshi” pickled plum
Umeboshi is a traditional preserved food consisting of plums.
It is a kind of pickles.
To make umeboshi, one pickles green plums in salt with red color leaves called shiso for about one month, then dry them in the sun.

It is extremely sour and has antiseptic properties.
It is said the citric acid of umeboshi helps you recover from fatigue.
Most Japanese are fond of having rice balls with umeboshi inside for lunch. |
